Cardi B’s New Song, WAP, featuring Megan Thee Stallion: Shock Value
The Editor at Top View TV asked me to write an article about this new song by Cardi B called WAP. This assignment felt kind of like he was giving me a bonus, and when you see the video you’ll know why. By the way, if you don’t know what WAP means, you’re just going to have to look it up yourself, because if I tell you in this article I may get in trouble.
Description of the WAP Video
My first problem was trying to actually follow the song’s lyrics. Let me be clear, both Cardi and Megan spit straight fire verses. The two ladies are both very lyrical and vocally deliver really well. But, in order to pay attention to the words, I had to cut the video off and just listen to the audio. I initially couldn’t focus because of how fine they are.
When the video first comes on, there’s this fountain out in the front of a mansion with statues of naked women, and water is shooting out of the nipples of their breasts. Then, the door of the estate opens, and there’s a long hallway with a solid gold mount of a big round booty on the wall. There’s also another solid gold mount of a set of huge breasts on the wall, with water shooting out of those nipples too, just like the fountain outside the house.
Speaking of the house, the sample in the background of the song WAP repeatedly goes “There’s some hoes in this house”. For all of y’all who don’t know, that’s an old song by Frank Ski called “Whores In This House”. The song was released in 1993 on Deco records, and was one of those dance joints everybody loved back in the day. Good ‘ol Baltimore club music.
Ok, so back the song and video. The first line of the verse that Cardi spits she says “Certified freak 7 days of the week…”, and she has on a pink outfit with a long veil and a very low cut top. Megan has on the same kind of outfit, but hers is yellow. Equally sexy, just different colors.
By the way, Megan The Stallion was raised in Houston, Texas. You know how they say everything is bigger in Texas? Well, when you see her body in the video, you’ll see why that statement is true. Megan can rap her ass off. Well, maybe that’s a bad choice of words, because that big ass ain’t going nowhere! This beautiful southern vixen gained a lot of her initial popularity just by spitting verses on Instagram, and she kills it on this new song with Cardi.
As an extra added bonus in the video, Kylie Jenner spontaneously pops on the screen and doesn’t say a word. For a second there, I thought she was going to spit a verse! I mean, all of a sudden in the middle of Cardi and Megan rhyming, you see a long veil that looks like a leopard’s coat. Then, you see Kylie with an open-front blouse as she walks up the hallway, then quietly slips into this room. All the while, I’m thinking to myself, “Damn I wish I could go to that room!”
Other cameos in the video were Normani (who released a song in August 2019 called Motivation), Rubi Rose (from the 2020 hit Pretty MF), Mulatto (who had a 2020 song featuring Gucci Mane called Muwap), Rosalia (who had the 2020 song featuring Travis Scott called TKN), and Sukihana (who had the 2020 song Pretty and Ratchet).
Overall Quality of Cardi B’s New Song, WAP
I eventually analytically listened to the lyrics, because the video is just so sexy and alluring that initially it’s hard to take in the fact that she’s always been a really nice MC, and so is Megan. When it comes to shock value, Cardi B always brings it. And, this new joint WAP is another staple in her resume for having that reputation. She’s an excellent artist, and you’re gonna love this song!
